Life seems to flash by at an incredible pace. Here we are a week into May already, which means 2025 is fast approaching the halfway point! In Psalm 39, the Psalmist David asks the LORD to help him measure his life.
4 “O Lord, make me know my end
and what is the measure of my days;
let me know how fleeting I am!
5 Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths,
and my lifetime is as nothing before you.
Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! Selah
6 Surely a man goes about as a shadow!
Surely for nothing they are in turmoil;
man heaps up wealth and does not know who will gather!7 “And now, O Lord, for what do I wait?
Psalm 39:4-7
My hope is in you.
May we not take any part of life for granted, for our days are numbered. May we also be reminded that stressing ourselves in pursuit of wealth and other satisfactions of this world yields nothing that lasts. Such “turmoil” is for nothing. Let us learn to wait on the Lord in each day He has given us and to find our hope in Him alone.
